Basis of nomination format

 

It is NECESSARY to provide the information asked for in this document for the respective category. This time you need to fill out the form online and attach the necessary documents.

 

While filling out the basis of nomination the information is to be limited only to the facility/plant/individual nominated. Ensure that all your claims are supported by the necessary document for each category. Any claim without supporting documents may be discarded by the jury. Please do not send us brochures and pamphlets – these will not be taken as valid supporting documents.

 

Judges will mark each of the award categories on a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 indicates the lowest score on that criteria and 10 is the highest possible. Marks given by all the jury members will be totalled to arrive at the final score. In case of a tie, jury members will re-evaluate the nomination to arrive at fresh scores. The marking will be done purely on the basis of the data provided in the nomination form.

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Kindly register with your details online at http://awards.manufacturingtodayindia.com/Fill the form online for the category you would like to nominate your company or any other company/person, and then submit it.Attach the relevant documents (pdf, jpeg) as given below and please ensure that each document is not more than 1-2 pages.

 

2) Please fill up all the required details correctly.

 

Please attach relevant documents supporting your nomination. These should be collated into a 2-3 page document.  NOT MORE. Extra pages will not be considered and may invite disqualification of the nomination.

EXCELLENCE IN CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) 2019

The nominee should have integrated corporate self-regulation into a working business model. Importantly, it should ensure active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards and international norms. He/She should be able to accept responsibility for the company’s actions while encouraging a positive impact through its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and the society at large.

 

The winner should have demonstrated that CSR activities can actually contribute to the organisations’ growth in the long term rather than becoming distractions. The company should be able to show that its CSR activities are more than cosmetic arrangements. There should be substantial evidence of adopting business ethics and principles.

EXCELLENCE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE 2019

In order to survive, project-driven organisations must compete on many levels. Delivering on time, to cost and with quality is always important — but so is the interaction and customer experience they provide during the project. Project-driven organisations must consider customer satisfaction as a critical success factor. Companies that deliver projects that disregard customer needs create negative experiences and ultimately cause huge problems for themselves. The judges will give marks on the basis of the following data in the context of only the facility nominated.

The jury will review the engineering and/or design aspects of a product, service, solution or package that has either been newly introduced or is a substantially improved version of a previously designed edition.

EXCELLENCE IN HUMAN RESOURCE 2019

This winner must have demonstrated innovative ways to retain employees and attract new and relevant talent. The winning entry should also be able to demonstrate that it has allowed its employees to productively collaborate with and learn from existing experts. The emphasis should be on education, training, knowledge management, collaboration with educational institutions. The winning organisation should be at the forefront in nurturing employee growth in all aspects. All employees must have freedom to express their ideas, voice their opinions and express discontent without fear. The judges will give marks on the basis of the following data in the context of only the facility nominated:

EXCELLENCE IN OPERATIONS 2019

The winning entry will have transformed the manufacturing processes and systems positively while reducing costs and enhancing productivity at a manufacturing plant. It will have used improvement principles such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing to rationalise operations, or introduced new plant systems that enhance overall equipment effectiveness, enable traceability and also focus on quality.

This award will go to a manufacturing facility that is making quantifiable progress towards having fully integrated operations that effectively recognise and efficiently use the synergy between machines, processes and the jobs on the shop floor. The judges will give marks on the basis of the following data in the context of only the facility nominated over the last one year.

Quality control is paramount in the manufacturing industry as lapses in quality can lead to serious performance and safety impairments. Quality control measures range from ensuring key dimensions are within tight specifications to other criteria such as checking surface finish and grain/crystal size which can be vitally important since they can have a dramatic effect on quality and performance. Zero incidents and injuries should be a goal in safety. It just should not be the goal. Once you achieve zero incidents or injuries, your measurements no longer provide insight as to how to get better.Injury data measurements will move from prescriptive to descriptive to pointless and, eventually, demotivating and misdirecting. Excellence is achieved when successful performance is continuously repeated, unprompted, producing predictable positive results.

The award will go to the manufacturing company or plant that, in the opinion of the judges, best demonstrates that it has made significant progress in designing, implementing and successfully operating a technology infrastructure, which is able to show returns on the investment. It may be an ongoing programme.

The judges would consider the nominee’s performance over the last seven years. Due consideration would also be given to the work of a leader who has also successfully diversified the firm’s business focus either completely or partially to emerge as an important player in its field. The winning entry may have revived a sick business unit or initiated a new one. The winner should command love and respect of his team members and should lead from the front with regards to the organisation’s mission, vision as well as work culture.

PLANT HEAD OF THE YEAR 2019

The plant head makes a huge and direct impact in achieving the organisation’s business objectives. We include this category to honour the Plant Head, who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities in running his/her site. The winning entry must be a team leader who promotes plant safety and enhances employee morale. The person should be an innovator who is able to implement new ideas, while meeting the demands of production, on-time delivery, quality and customer support (internal and external).

While we are inviting nominations from individuals designated as ‘Plant Head’, nominees may also be designated as ‘plant in-charge’ or ‘COO’ or ‘VP manufacturing’ or ‘director operations’ or ‘manufacturing head’ or ‘head of operations’ or similarly. However, the nominee should be directly and solely responsible for the operations of the given plant or facility.

ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR 2019

The winning entry should represent an individual who has either launched a successful new manufacturing enterprise from scratch or from within an existing business. Due consideration will be given to the individual’s ability to take advantage of market opportunity or create one. The nominee must be an owner who is primarily responsible for the performance of the company and is also an active member of the leadership team. While focus is more on first generation entrepreneurs, second generation or even third generation entrepreneurs may also be considered in cases where the organisation may have either successfully diversified in a completely different sector and/or has grown substantially under the nominees’ leadership. The second or third generation entrepreneur must show quantifiable growth and substantial progression over what has been achieved by the previous leader within the same organisation.
